Some years ago, prompted by the number of existing and potential clients seeking project transport solutions, Natco SA indentified the need to establish a dedicated division within the company to handle all aspects of project and exceptional type transports.

With our experienced team & company infrastructure, we choose our carriers with care and use only dedicated sub contractors with proven track records. Natco SA has grown in strength and is now widely regarded as one of the foremost specialized project forwarders.

Our involvement is complete, beginning with an accurate budget for the transport and handling through to the “close out report” at the conclusion of the project.

Natco SA (Pty) Ltd Projects Division has the experience, systems and dedicated partners to provide successful project solutions, be it a single oversized consignment or a multi shipment project over a number of years.

Powertech Transformers

Natco SA has recently completed the customs clearance and delivery of a number of reactors to Alpha and Beta SS on behalf of Powertech Transformers (previously known as ABB Powertech Transformers. The movement of the reactors including accessories and oils from ships side to destination had to be carefully coordinate with the off loading crews at site. A good understanding of the sensitivity of transporting reactors is essential and in this regard Natco SA always has a senior manager present to insure vehicle safety and the required mega tests are carried out prior to leaving the port. To protect Powetechs interests an independent marine surveyor is appointed to oversee and document the entire operation. [ More info]

Shipment of an ABB 330 MVA Power Transformer from Cape Town to Houston
"Natco SA (Pty) Ltd arranged the break bulk export shipment of an ABB 330 MVA Power Transformer from Cape Town to Houston in the USA. This machine had to be transported to Cape Town as the weight restrictions on the bridges leading into Durban would not allow for this cargo to be carried over them. The weight of the transformer was 165tons. (Dims L-8850xW-3730xH-4850).

As the floating crane in Richard's Bay was not operational, the only solution was to direct this cargo to Cape Town. Macs shipping had to re-direct their vessel, the Arosia 2621 in order to collect this Transformer.

Natro Freight (Pty) Ltd arranged the local transport of this machine from Pretoria, via Uppington to Cape Town, which in total took approximately 10 days. This shipment was loaded onboard the Arosia 2621 on the morning of the 7th July 2006" [ More info]
